Solano County Library is a progressive and innovative library with secure funding and widespread support from the community. The Library serves the community with eight branches and virtual services in five of the seven cities in Solano County with a staff of 111 FTE. With its strategic location, affordable housing, natural resources, and historical significance, Solano County is a growing community with a promising future as a place to live, learn, work and play. There is an abundance of open space to hike, bike, camp, and explore as well as coastal access for sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, and fishing. Residing midway between the Bay Area and the Sacramento metropolitan regions and neighboring the Napa Valley, residents enjoy the leisurely options of taking a ferry to San Francisco, train to downtown Sacramento or riding their bikes through valleys of vineyards and over the hill to Napa.

The Library Marketing and Community Relations Officer is responsible for the department’s communications division, inclusive of its virtual services , volunteer services, brand management, community relations, promotion strategies and campaigns, system-wide and age-level programs, and community outreach and engagement. This position manages and evaluates the work of staff as well as develops, implements and monitors budgets, policies and procedures.
The Ideal Candidate is someone who has a progressive vision of library services; is creative, innovative and detail oriented; can manage and complete multiple projects concurrently, build and maintain effective relationships; is enthusiastic and has a sense of humor; and possesses a broad understanding of library services. Effective written and oral communication skills are critical to the position.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience: Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience performing professional level duties in a related field, including two (2) years of lead or supervisory responsibility.
Education/Training: A Bachelor's degree is required from an accredited college or university, preferably in education, business administration, library and/or information science, social or behavioral science, communications or a closely related field. Possession of a Master’s Degree in a related field is highly desirable.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2019 calendar year is $1,498.09 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.
Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.
Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.
The County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.
Employees are eligible for 2 floating holidays each calendar year.
Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 3 years.
Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.
Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years.
