The Position

 

 

The Solano County Department of Information Technology (IT) invites you to apply for the position of Information Technology Analyst II (ITA-II ) Position.

The Information Technology Analyst II works as part of the larger Application Data and Analytics Group in Web Development Area. This role is a web developer position and reports to the Application Development Manager.

The ITA-II position includes application programming, troubleshooting existing code, enhancing application and basic system analysis. They also could be part of larger DOIT projects like consultants on assigned systems design, or infrastructure and maintenance projects.

 

 

 

 

 

The ideal candidate for this position should be an organized team player, can work in a fast-paced team environment, be experienced in Microsoft Visual Studio and supporting programming technologies with knowledge of:

  • Standard accepted principles, methodologies of computer programming logic
  • Database structures, database design, applications programming, distributed processing, end-user computing, database query software and on-line programming software
  • Computer programming languages and techniques (Microsoft Visual Studio .Net, C#, SQL scripting)
  • Applications, programming, coding and testing Data base management systems, data communications and, on line and interactive systems.
  • Database reporting tools

 

Skills and/or Ability to:

  • Understand designated systems, processes, and operations in relation to users' goals, needs, and priorities.
  • Prepare feasibility and needs' studies/surveys and narrative and statistical reports
  • Collect and analyze data to identify needs and/or problems; evaluate system effectiveness; research and analyze alternative solutions

BENEFITS

Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2018 calendar year is $1520.73 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.

Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.

The County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 3 years. Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Effective July 1 of each year, 80 hours of administrative leave is granted.

Extra-help employees who work less than 29 hours per week do not typically receive or accrue benefits of regular employees during their period of employment. All extra-help employees accrue .034 hours of Paid Time Off [Represented] Sick Leave [Unrepresented] for every full hour worked.

Selection Process

11/8/18 – Deadline to submit application and required documents.
12/3/18 – Tentative week for oral board exam for most qualified applicants.

Based on the information provided in the application documents, the qualified applicants may be invited for further examination and will either be pre-scheduled by the Department of Human Resources or be invited to self-schedule. All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Depending upon the number of applications received, the selection process may consist of an initial application screening, a mandatory information meeting, a supplemental questionnaire assessment, a written and/or practical exam, an oral board exam, or any combination listed. Responses to supplemental questions may be used as screening and testing mechanisms and will be used to assess an applicant’s ability to advance in the process; as such, responses to supplemental questions should be treated as test examination responses. Education and Experience

Education: Equivalent to an Associate’s degree, preferably in information technology.


Experience: Depending upon assignment: Two (2) years of software development and design experience which includes some system analysis. Or, two (2) years of experience in systems infrastructure support administering servers, storage, networks, security, databases, or desktops.

 Note: Additional experience may substitute on a year for year basis for the educational requirement.

 

 

Veterans Preference Points

To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions. A COPY OF THE DD 214, SHOWING DISCHARGE TYPE (GENERALLY COPY 4), MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BY THE FINAL FILING DATE.
