Introduction
This recruitment is being conducted to fill one part time position of Mental Health Clinician II in Correctional Health Services.
Correctional Health Services provides health care services to adult inmates at the San Joaquin County Jail facility, located at 7000 Michael N. Canlis Blvd, French Camp, CA 95231. The care is mandated by Title 15, Division 1, Sub-Chapter IV of the California Regulatory Code.
Mental Health Clinician II is the fully-licensed, journey level in the Mental Health Clinician series. An employee in this class functions as an advanced practitioner in handling the most responsible and difficult casework in improving or restoring of individual physical, mental or emotional functioning.
Background Screening: To work in the County jail facility, applicants must pass a rigorous security background screening which is a condition of employment. More information about the San Joaquin County jail facility and the mandatory security clearance is contained in the supplemental application which must be completed and submitted with the standard County employment application.
Pre-employment Drug Screening: Potential new hires into this classification are required to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment. Final appointment cannot be made unless the eligible has passed the drug screen. The County pays for the initial drug screen.

TYPICAL DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EITHER PATTERN I
Special Requirement: Must possess and maintain a valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
OR PATTERN II
Special Requirement: Must possess and maintain a valid California license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology.
AND FOR BOTH PATTERNS
Education: Graduation from an accredited university with a master’s or doctorate degree in social work, counseling, psychology or other course of study acceptable to the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences towards licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Psychologist.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license.

Selection Procedures
Applicants for part-time and temporary recruitments who meet the minimum qualifications are either referred to the hiring department for further selection or they may be required to take a written examination. If a written examination is given, the top candidates may be referred to the hiring department for further selection.
