This Supplemental Questionnaire is part of the Office Assistant/Senior Office Assistant – Law Enforcement application process and is required to be completed, in addition to the standard application. It will be used to further evaluate your qualifications, as well as to provide information regarding the background process that is required to be successfully completed prior to being employed as an Office Assistant/Senior Office Assistant with any of the County’s law enforcement agencies. 

This recruitment is being conducted to fill vacancies only in the Sheriff’s Office, Probation Department, Correctional Health, and District Attorney’s Office.  Candidates must be able to successfully pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening to be considered. 

Law enforcement departments in San Joaquin County require that you successfully pass an in-depth background investigation. Please review the information below regarding the activities that may make you unsuccessful in the background process: 

  • Evidence of criminal activity, including cases which resulted, or could result, in a misdemeanor or felony conviction;
  • Conviction with elements of violence, property crimes and/or weapons;
  • Presently on parole or probation, formal, informal or conditional sentence;
  • Multiple, recent, Vehicle Code citations, convictions or accidents;
  • Recent Driving Under the Influence, driving on a suspended or revoked license, or hit and run accident.

To be considered for positions that require typing, you must have a typing certificate with a minimum of 45 wpm issued by one of the organizations recognized by San Joaquin County – List of Approved Organizations for Typing Certificates.  Do you possess a valid typing certificate from one of the organizations recognized by San Joaquin County?
