APPOINTMENT TYPE: Provisional. Provisional applicants must participate in a Civil Service examination for this job classification to be considered for permanent appointment. The qualified applicant pool resulting from this recruitment may be utilized to fill provisional vacancies at various locations within DPH.
The Department of Public Health’s Children, Youth and Families Psychological Assessment Services is accepting applications for one (1) full-time position in class 2574 Clinical Psychologist.
LOCATION: 2712 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA 94110.
SCHEDULE/SHIFT: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. Some early evening hours may occasionally be required to meet client needs.
Under general supervision, the 2574 Clinical Psychologist conducts professional-level work in clinical psychology; carries out psychodiagnostic examinations and psychotherapy of emotionally disturbed, mentally ill, chemically dependent and developmentally delayed children and adults; prepares psychological reports; provides psychological consultation services; participates in psychological research; when assigned as a neuropsychologist, conducts professional-level work in neuropsychology; carries out neuropsychological examinations of neurologically impaired and mentally ill children and adults; prepares neuropsychological reports; provides neuropsychological consultation to a multidisciplinary team; and performs related duties as required.
- Provides psychological testing services for specialized populations within the Child, Youth, and Families;
- System of Care, including child welfare, juvenile justice, and specialty mental health clinic referrals;
- Manages incoming psychological testing referrals and contract private providers;
- Supports training and consultation with system partners (e.g. social workers, judges, and trainees/interns); and
- Participates in quality assurance/chart reviews and maintains metrics on psychological testing services
The 2574 Clinical Psychologist performs the other related duties as assigned/required.
- Possession of a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology as defined in Chapter 6.6 of the Business and Professions Code; Psychologist Licensing Law, Sections 2900-2903, 2914; AND
- Two (2) years of clinical experience with children (Special Condition); AND
- Six (6) months of post-graduate level psychological testing and reporting experience (Special Condition).
One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40 hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment. Facial hair or any condition that interferes with a face-fitting respirator’s seal (i.e. comes between the sealing surfaces of the respirator and the wearer’s bare skin) is not permitted when face-fitting respirators are worn, including during initial or periodic respirator fit-testing.
Employees who choose not to shave and do not have either American Disabilities Act (ADA) or Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Accommodations do not have the right to alternate work assignments or the option of using a loose-fitting Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) in place of a Face Fitting Respirator.
