Appointment Type: Temporary Exempt (TEX). Exempt employees are considered "at will" and serve at the discretion of the department head. The qualified applicant pool resulting from this recruitment may be utilized to fill other exempt vacancies at various locations within DPH. Some TEX positions are limited to 1,040 work hours in a year while other positions can last up to three years.
The Department of Public Health (DPH) is currently accepting applications for one (1) Temporary Exempt (Cat 17) limited duration vacancy in class 2624 Dietitian.
- Location: Laguna Honda Hospital (LHH), 375 Laguna Honda Blvd., San Francisco
- Shift: 8:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday - Friday
- Shift and location are subject to change depending on the needs of the department- may include weekends.
Under general supervision, the 2624 Dietitian provides Medical Nutrition Therapy for Laguna Honda Hospital's long term care patients and residents. The essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Provides accurate and appropriate nutrition assessment, re-assessment, and education to patients and residents consistent with interdisciplinary patient and resident care goals and compliant with government regulations, including Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regulations.
- Keeps accurate and appropriate documentation of nutritional care and interventions in hospital medical records and other records.
- Collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team, consisting of attending physicians, nurses, and the chief dietitian, to provide realistic patient centered care.
- Provides appropriate, courteous and effective communication with residents and their families, peers, interdisciplinary care team, and all staff within DPH’s Department of Food and Nutrition Services and throughout LHH.
The 2624 Dietitian performs other related duties as assigned/required.
Requires possession of a current valid registration as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics).
