CLASS 2624 DIETITIAN

Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center's Food and Nutrition Department is accepting applications for one (1) as needed position in class 2624 Dietitian.

SHIFT: Day Shift. 8:00 - 5:00

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  

Under general supervision, the Dietitian develops and plans appropriate nutrition interventions, including planning special diets and providing education for patients and residents. The essential job functions include the following:

  •  Confers with physicians, nursing staff and other health care providers as part of an interdisciplinary team, regarding the nutritional care of patients, including recommendations for enternal and parenteral nutrition;
  • Assesses and prepares patients' nutritional status, nutritional needs, menus, acceptance of menus or tolerance of nutrition support, and plans appropriate nutritional interventions;
  • Instructs patients, hospital staff and health care providers; verbally and with written material, taking into consideration nutritional values, religious/cultural values and other preferences;
  • Develops and prepares statistical reports, including documentation of patient assessments and nutritional care plans in medical records utilizing electronic database and software programs;
  • Implements Dietary Policies & Procedures to establish and maintain an efficient program for patient screening;
  • Provides dietary clinical supervision to technicians, hospital staff, patients, and health care providers;
  • Assists in developing and implementing Nutrition Services Policies & Procedures, clinical nutrition protocols, standards of care and programs relating to safety, sanitation, infection control and programs related to preventative maintenance;
  • Adheres to departmental, CMS and Title 22 regulations in the performance of duties; • Represents the Nutrition Services Department at community-based public functions related to dietetic and nutritional services; and
  • Performs related duties as assigned.  

Minimum Qualifications

License and Certification:

  • Requires possession of a current valid registration as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics).

Selection Procedures

The selection process will include evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements. Depending on the number of applicants, the Department may establish and implement additional screening mechanisms to comparatively evaluate qualifications of candidates. If this becomes necessary, only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the Department will be invited for an interview.

Conviction History

The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction (or arrest, in limited circumstances) conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you are a selected candidate. If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances, such as:
