Project: Mountain Tunnel Improvements

Position Description 
The 5506 Project Manager III (PM III) is the Mountain Tunnel Regional Project Manager responsible for the management and implementation of all Mountain Tunnel related projects in the SFPUC Hetch Hetchy Capital Improvement Program. The PM III serves as the Project Manager for the Mountain Tunnel Improvements Project and three smaller related precursor miscellaneous support projects. The PM III is under the supervision of the Project Management Bureau (PMB) and receives administrative supervision from the Bureau Manager. As the current project assignments are completed, the Bureau Manager may assign other projects to the PM III. The PM III reports regularly and receive input from the Water Capital Program Director.  As needed, the PM III may meet periodically with the client managers at Hetch Hetchy Water and Power Division to provide project updates. The PM III may also supervise junior project managers and staff and oversee their respective projects and assignments within the Region. 

Essential Functions:
The PM III has overall responsibility for the successful completion of the project, ideally on budget and on schedule. The PM would monitor and manage changes to project scope, budget/costs, schedule throughout the life of the project. The PM has to have the ability to ask critical questions of project staff and consultants, particularly if the work submitted is not up to par technically or not well thought out or not clearly communicated. The PM is the project leader and needs to exercise good judgment for key decisions on a daily and milestone basis. The PM needs to recognize the risks of bad decisions and be able to help the team develop alternatives and options should the first option not pan out. The PM needs to enjoy solving problems and encourage team members to do likewise. He/she has to have good communication skills and ability to work with a diverse group of  project stakeholders.

Nature of Work: The 5506 Project Manager III will spend time in Moccasin, CA.

Minimum Qualifications

If you are interested in a job like this, we are looking for people that have the following: 

1. Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, planning, or landscape architecture; plus Eight (8) years of responsible architectural, engineering or construction management experience; OR

2. Bachelor's Degree in another field plus Ten (10) years of responsible experience in a field directly related to the project; OR

3. Twelve (12) years of architectural, engineering, or construction management experience in a field directly related to the project; OR

4. California registration as professional engineer or architect PLUS four (4) years of project coordination experience for major architectural, engineering or construction projects AND

5. Possession of a valid driver's license.

CCSF employees will not receive credit for experience obtained outside of their classification unless recorded in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Service Rule 110.9.1/111A.11.2. 
 
Experience claimed in self-employment will only be accepted if supported by documents verifying income, earnings, business license and experience comparable to minimum qualifications above. Copies of income tax papers or other documents listing occupation and total earnings must be submitted.     

Verification of required valid licensure/certification typically must be a photocopy of the license/certificate including the name of the issuing agency as well as the name of the license/certificate holder, license/certificate number, and expiration date.

Selection Procedures

Minimum Qualifications Supplemental Questionnaire (MQSQ - Qualifying) 

Applicants will be prompted to complete a Supplemental Questionnaire as part of the online application process. Conviction History

Disaster Service Workers
