CLASS 2565 ACUPUNCTURIST

This is a Position Based Test (PBT) conducted in accordance with Civil Service Rule 111A.
The Department of Public Health’s Chinatown North Beach Mental Health Services program is accepting application for one (1) full time bilingual Cantonese speaking Acupuncturist.
Chinatown North Beach Mental Health Services (CTNB) offers an array of outpatient mental health services to adolescent (14 years and older), adult, and older adult residents primarily in the Chinatown and North Beach areas. Many of the clients served are immigrants or refugee survivors of war. The program operates from the basic philosophy that services need to be accessible and culturally appropriate. A harm reduction approach is offered to help persons who have both substance abuse and mental health issues. Goals are to help people in their recovery from psychiatric illness, and co-occurring disorders when present, building on the strengths of the individual and family and supporting persons to have productive lives in the community.
Services include psychiatric evaluation, individual therapy/counseling, family intervention, urgent care, medications, group activities, acupuncture for psychiatric disorders, as well as adult/geriatric socialization program recovery center. Services are also provided at Galileo High School. CTNB operates with the basic philosophy that services must be accessible and culturally appropriate.
Essential functions include:
Develop treatment plans, provide acupuncture treatment of clients;
Maintain charts of treatment and discharge patient from treatment using computerized CPT-10 codes;
Evaluate effectiveness of treatment;
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary staff (medical clinicians, Behavioral Health Clinicians) in work with clients regarding mental health and psychiatric issues;
Participate in staff and intake meetings;
Provide information, education and publicity to the public regarding acupuncture services for mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, psychosis/paranoia;
Maintain acupuncture equipment and inventory of supplies and
Perform other duties as required.
- Possession of a current, valid license to practice acupuncture issued by the California State Acupuncture Board

Special Condition - Bilingual Proficiency:

Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (Weight: Qualifying):
Candidates will be prompted to complete a Supplemental Questionnaire as part of the online employment application. Training and Experience Evaluation: (Weight: 100%)
The information provided by candidates on the job application, requested verification, if required, and a Supplemental Questionnaire will be evaluated in relations to the knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position in class 2565 Acupuncturist.
Candidates will be placed on the eligible list in rank order according to their final score
Eligible List/Score Report:
A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created, and used for certification purposes only. An examination score report will be established, so applicants can view the ranks, final scores and number of eligible candidates. Applicant information, including names of applicants on the eligible list, shall not be made public unless required by law. However, an eligible list shall be made available for public inspection, upon request, once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved. The eligible list/score report resulting from this civil service examination process is subject to change after adoption (e.g., as a result of appeals), as directed by the Human Resources Director or the Civil Service Commission.
The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be six (6), and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.

The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be Rule of Three Scores. Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.
