Under general direction, directs the activities of crews engaged in the construction, maintenance and repair of high voltage transmission, distribution and substation systems, and performs related duties as required. Requires major responsibility for: interpreting, coordinating and carrying out existing methods and procedures relative to the construction, maintenance and repair of power delivery system; making regular contacts with other departmental personnel and the general public in connection with line construction, maintenance and repair activities; preparing, checking and reviewing time, material and work performance records and reports. Nature of work requires considerable physical activity with some exposure to inclement weather and some possibility of accident and injury.
The essential functions of this position include:
- Assign, supervise and inspect the activities of power system supervisors /foremen in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of power delivery system, including transmission, distribution, substations, distributed energy resources, metering, relaying and appurtenance.
- Make field inspections of work in progress to assure conformance with instructions and prescribed safety practices and methods.
- Prepare time and material cost estimates for various work projects.
- Approve requisitions for materials and supplies and assure that same conform with specifications and acceptable standards.
- Assure that crews are adequately supplied with necessary materials, tools and equipment to complete their various assignments.
- Supervise the preparation of material cost and time records and reports.
- Assist In the development and advancement of subordinates, through training and effective use of employee development program.
Class 7285 Transmission Line Worker Supervisor II performs other related duties as required.
Working Conditions: Nature of work requires considerable physical activity with some exposure to inclement weather and serious accident hazards.

Minimum Qualifications Supplemental Questionnaire (MQSQ) - (Weight: Qualifying)

Oral Examination (Weight: 100%):
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to an Oral exam to determine their relative knowledge, skill, and abilities in job-related areas for the 7285 classification which may include, but are not limited to: ability to plan, assign, supervise and inspect the work of subordinate staff; ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications; ability to analyze and determine the tools, materials, personnel and equipment required for work projects; knowledge of power system construction and maintenance methods and associated equipment; Knowledge of electrical theory and practices; knowledge of methods and techniques of “hot line” maintenance; knowledge of state general order numbers 95, 128,165, 174; knowledge of the practical application of pole-top resuscitations, vault rescue and first aid methods.

Certification Rule: The certification rule for the ranked eligible lists resulting from this examination will be Rule of 3 Scores. The department may administer additional position-specific selection procedures to make final hiring decisions.
Eligible List: A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created and used for certification purposes only.
