Please make sure your answers are thorough and complete before submitting your application.*

INSTRUCTIONS:  The purpose of this Supplemental Questionnaire is to determine your job-related experience in specific functional areas and tasks/duties that are linked to the important knowledge, skills, and abilities identified as critical for positions in this class.

The answers you provide on this Supplemental Questionnaire should be consistent with the information on your application and is subject to verification.

Provide all information requested even if it may appear redundant. Do not write “See application” or "See resume" or "See above" as a response.

Please be thorough and complete. Your written communication skills will be evaluated based on your responses.

Once your application is submitted, you will not be allowed to modify your responses on the Supplemental Questionnaire. Please keep a copy of the Supplemental Questionnaire for your own records.

Please note: All relevant experience, education and/or training must be included in the spaces provided in order to be reviewed in the rating process.  Panel members involved in the rating process will not have access to your application and resume, so it is important that your answers are comprehensive.

Describe a complex and important project you managed related to change in an organizational structure or key system. Why did you implement the change? How did you communicate the changes to your subordinates? What steps did you take to implement new policies and procedures to enhance the effectiveness of the change?

Describe a time when you had an underperforming or non-performing employee reporting to you. What were the steps you took address the situation? Did the employee’s performance improve? If not, what did you do next? Thinking about the situation today, what would you do differently?

3.

Describe how you have used data to make decisions in one of your positions. What steps have you taken to determine the quality of the data and what actions did you take to improve the quality of the data? How do you use data in communicating with your staff, colleagues, or superiors?

4.

Describe the highest managerial role you achieved in your career related to supervising employees engaged in interpreting and implementing federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to tax assessments or another field. Include a brief description of the organization and discuss your involvement in strategic planning; developing the business requirements for a new or enhanced system; and developing standards, policies, and procedures.
