This is a Position Based Test (PBT) conducted in accordance with Civil Service Rule 111A. The position is located in the Comprehensive Breast Center and Diagnostic Ultrasound Section at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG).

 

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Comprehensive Breast Center at ZSFG is a breast imaging center dedicated to delivering comprehensive breast imaging services using state-of-the-art digital technology. We offer diagnostic excellence in the early detection of breast cancer in a warm and caring environment. Our goal is to improve access to breast imaging services for all age-eligible women within the Community Health Network of San Francisco with the specific intent to make it easier and more convenient for women to have their annual mammograms and to reduce the anxiety associated with breast cancer detection.  

 

Along with three full-field digital mammography units on-site and a mobile digital mammography van, the Comprehensive Breast Center has on-site ultrasound to perform targeted exams and ultrasound guided biopsies. Mammographic guidance is also available to perform up-right and prone stereotactic core biopsy procedures and wire localization for patients requiring surgery. A high-field magnetic resonance imaging with dedicated breast coil and biopsy capability is available in the main hospital adjacent to the Comprehensive Breast Center.

 

The staff of the Comprehensive Breast Center is a collaboration of employees from both University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH). We are a multi-lingual, diverse group, dedicated to culturally sensitive exceptional patient care.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Under direction, manages a large staff of imaging technologists and ancillary personnel within an assigned shift in a large radiology department or the staff of a unit within the radiology department; performs highly specialized radiographic studies; ensures adherence to quality control standards; and performs other duties as required.

 

The 2496 Imaging Supervisor, Women’s Imaging Supervisor performs the following essential job functions:

  • Directs and participates in in-service training in new procedures and in the use of new equipment; participates in the formulation and direction of the student internship program.
  • Engages with a multi-disciplinary team of allied health professionals, Medical Doctors (MDs), nurses and clinical staff to promote breast cancer screening awareness.  Attend community and hospital meetings related to breast health, including Breast Interdisciplinary Council (BIDC).
  • Ensures quality and safe delivery of care to patients of all ages in both mammography and diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Establishes, applies and maintains quality assurance policies and procedures to provide quality technical radiographic services such as maintaining the integrity of image quality in accordance with departmental, hospital and regulatory agency standards; participates in Quality Assurance (QA) and Performance Improvement (PI) research, data collection and report writing; makes recommendations as appropriate.
  • Maintains proficiency with practice management and information technology systems including databases, mammography and diagnostic ultrasound technology.
  • Oversees the operation of the Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center, including managing scheduling, workflow, Quality Control/Quality Assurance, mammography van operations and supervision of technologist and imaging assistant work.
  • Participates in Breast Cancer Awareness month activities, highlighting center services to community partners.
  • Participates in Radiology quality improvement activities using knowledge of A3, LEAN principles,  Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Epic and Daily Management System (DMS).
  • Performs difficult and very specialized radiographic examinations.
  • Prepares a variety of reports, documents, payroll records, and statistical surveys; participates in budget development and maintenance.
  • Recruits, hires and assigns technical and non-technical personnel; reviews and evaluates staff performance; counsels staff as necessary to improve performance.
  • Researches equipment and service needs with vendors for selection of new products and/or equipment; recommends and/or participates in the selection of new medical and non-medical equipment for the department; assists with site preparation and installation of new equipment; maintains stock levels of all materials and supplies used in Radiology; assists with computer system maintenance including trouble-shooting to minimize computer down-time; updates current system as necessary.
  • Represents the department regarding technical aspects of the department's operation at administrative conferences; studies and evaluates technical and administrative systems and makes recommendations for improvements.

The 2496 Imaging Supervisor performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. EDUCATION: Possession of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university AND
  2. EXPERIENCE: Five years (equivalent to 10,000 hours) of verifiable experience in a hospital performing imaging procedures of which two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) must be as a lead technologist AND
  3. LICENSE: Possession of a valid license issued by the State of California Department of Public Health as a Certified Radiologic Technologist AND
  4. LICENSE: Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists AND
  5. CERTIFICATION: Possession of a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate issued by the American Heart Association.

 

Substitution: Additional verifiable professional work experience performing Imaging Technologist duties may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one (1) year.

  • Experience with information technology systems (including databases and mammography technology).

  • Financial stewardship.

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Selection Procedures

Supplemental Questionnaire (Weight: 100%):

Applicants will be prompted to complete a Supplemental Questionnaire during the online application process. Supplemental Questionnaire will be evaluated in relation to the knowledge, skills and abilities required for class 2496 Imaging Supervisor. This may include but is not limited to: Knowledge and skill in use of radiology equipment, image production and related procedures; knowledge of the organization and operation of a large, technically complex hospital radiology department; knowledge of instruction and training techniques; Ability and skill to effectively issue and carry out oral and written instructions and radiographic procedures; ability and skill to plan, organize, assign, supervise and inspect the work of subordinates; ability and skill to organize, conduct and evaluate educational and in-service programs.

 

Candidates will be placed on the eligible list in rank order according to their final score.

Certification:
The certification rule used for the eligible list resulting from this selection procedure will be Rule of Three Scores. Additional position-specific selection mechanisms may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.

Conviction History

Disaster Service Workers

Note on Electronic Health Record (EHR): The Department of Public Health (DPH) is implementing a unified Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and DPH employees must demonstrate competency in the use of the system that is appropriate for their classification as a condition of employment.

 

Note on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Some positions in the Department of Public Health will require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to gloves, gowns, eye and face protection, and face-fitting respirators. The requirement for the use of PPE may come on short or no notice. Facial hair or any condition that interferes with a face-fitting respirator’s seal (i.e. comes between the sealing surfaces of the respirator and the wearer’s bare skin) is not permitted when face-fitting respirators are worn, including during initial or periodic respirator fit-testing.

 

Employees who choose not to shave and do not have either American Disabilities Act (ADA) or Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Accommodations do not have the right to alternate work assignments or the option of using a loose-fitting Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) in place of a FaceFitting Respirator.

 

Medical Examination/Drug Testing:
