The County of Santa Cruz seeks a qualified candidate to plan, supervise and effectuate all work activities of the Office of Clerk of the Board. This office is primarily responsible for preparing, processing and maintaining the official record of Board of Supervisors proceedings, managing the Assessment Appeals filing and hearing process, maintaining updates to the County Code and supporting processes relating to commissions, committees and advisory bodies of the Board. Under general direction of the County Administrative Office, the Chief Deputy works within broad policy guidelines to execute a wide variety of statutory duties, including the Brown Act, relating to meeting management, preparation of agendas and minutes, supervising staff, providing guidance to the Board on procedural matters, and responding to inquiries related to Board actions, County Code and records research. Tact, diplomacy, and the ability to cultivate positive working relationships are required in this fast-paced, politically sensitive environment.
