Typical Tasks
- Manages an IT function, supervising staff and/or assigned supervisors directly. Mentors and fosters professional development of staff;
- Develops and leads the implementation of strategic and operational plans, policies, and procedures for a single facet of County business;
- Develops alternate project plans, problem resolutions, and project budgets based on customers’ needs and financial and/or staff constraints;
- Manages timelines and resource allocations for multiple projects;
- Makes formal recommendations regarding tools, techniques, and methodologies for a department;
- Develops, prepares and monitors program budget;
- Spends part of their time as an individual contributor to the department or function;
- Performs other related duties as required.

- Current principles, practices, methods and tools used in overseeing the design, development, support and/or implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products in the functional area of the assignment.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
BA/BS from an accredited college or university in computer science, business or public administration or a related field and one year of IT management or IT supervisory experience.
OR
Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, business or public administration or a related field and two years IT management or IT supervisory experience.
OR
Three years of IT management or IT supervisory experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Background Investigation: Some positions may require fingerprinting and/or background investigation.
License: Possession and maintenance of a California Class C Driver License.
Other Special Requirements: Availability to work irregular hours, which may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
