W International is a full-service manufacturer of large complex welded metal fabrications for the Aerospace, Specialty Commercial, Defense, Energy, and Marine industries. Within the Defense sector, in addition to Combat Vehicles, our focus is on supporting US Navy platforms; especially submarines, aircraft carriers, and frigates. We have recently been certified to perform work to the highly critical NAVSEA weld specifications.

 

The company’s highly trained welders and technical staff are able to support the requirements associated with working with a diverse range of materials; including ballistic armor, aluminum, titanium, invar, and all mild and high strength steels.

 

 

 

Responsibilities/Job Duties/ Tasks: 

 

  • Reports directly to the Quality Supervisor/Quality Manager.
  • Working knowledge of mig & tig welded steel and aluminum fabrications both small and large weldments for commercial, aerospace and defense.
  • Working knowledge of dimensional requirements, inspection reports with tape measures, calipers, and blue print reading.
  • 1st article documentation requirements and presentation responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of AS 9100 and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Must perform and report findings for QC and NDT inspections ability to coordinate with and communicate effectively with all parties
  • Verify the implementation of contract documents
  • Produce inspection reports and maintain detailed records of work performed Mentoring and training of staff as assigned.
  • Recognizes complex problems and assists in bringing to resolution
  • Proficient in applying standard inspection testing techniques and procedures for the verification of material
  • Able to read and interpret complex blueprints, customer/vendor specifications, and shop drawings
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Must be detail oriented, have a professional attitude, confidentiality, and strong ethic values
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret results of inspections Implement, administering & managing the welder workmanship program and training and the NDT program to include VT, UT, MT and PT procedures
  • Manage & supervise level I and level II inspectors and the NDT program to include all the personal and procedures
  • Reviews and write procedures/standards for VT MT PT, and UT processes
  • Develop and manage the welder workmanship inspection training and qualification. Perform and oversee annual weld and NDT program audits.
  • Conduct training and examination of NDT personnel.
  • Conduct surveillance of the Level I and Level II inspectors.
  • Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
  • Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.
  • Follow all safety rules and quality standards.
  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Report any unsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor.
  • Prepare official NDT inspection reports and AutoCad Drawings for submittal to the government.

Qualifications: 

 

  • Must be a US Citizen High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with the metric system
  • Ability to stand continuously for long periods of time
  • Willing to work in excess of 40 hours a week
  • Ability to follow instructions given both verbally and in written form
  • Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities and have a dependable work ethic
  • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form including but not limited to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals and procedure manuals
  • Ability to use a wide variety of inspection tools
  • Quality positions based on experience:
    • NDT Level II Certification VT, MT, PT 
    • Qualified level III inspector IAW NAVSEA requirements in Tech pub 271 and ASNT or candidate must be a level II, meet the prerequisites for level III and become a level III within 45 days of hire date.
    • Experience with SMAW, GTAW and GMAW welding highly preferred.

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Quality positions based on experience:
    • Prefer technical education, machining experience, welding experience and or technical on the job training. 2-3 Years’ Experience.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
    • Knowledge of Tech Pub 1688 and AWS welding
    • Experience in supervisory role
    • Experience with Shop Tech E2 ERP system or similar workflow
    • Required to perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned by his or her supervisor.
    • Experience in US Government Defense and Aerospace contracting business environment on programs that are for US Army, US Navy, US Marine Corps, Air Force, or Department of Energy projects.
    • Past working relationships with Defense and Aerospace Contractors.
    • Working knowledge of UCC Article 7 and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR’s and DFAR’s).
    • Some mechanical or technical training or skills is desired
    • Past experience working for or at a Fabrication facility.
    • NDT program Level III: 3 years
