Job Duties

 

Provides information on the manufacturing process through testing and analysis of both raw and finished materials.  Provides technical support for sales, materials, and manufacturing in the form of product testing as directed. Recommends and facilitates quality improvements. Verifies that quality requirements are met through all phases of the manufacturing process.

 

 

 

 

 

Major Responsibilities

 

  • Facilitates, coordinates and/or performs all aspects of raw and finished product testing for the purpose of evaluating that products are made correctly and performing as expected.
  • Develops and maintains necessary SPC data collection and recordkeeping in support of routine quality control functions.
  • Support the tests and evaluates new or alternate raw materials as directed to achieve cost reduction, improved product performance, or otherwise support the Materials function.  This may include working with vendors directly.
  • Monitors and maintains finished product release program.
  • Generates and maintains Certificate of Compliance (COC) documentation for customers.
  • Coordinates and/or performs processes to verify requirements of the Quality System in manufacturing.
  • Monitors, collects, and analyzes data related to scrap, product quality, production processes and procedures.  Generates reports and presents recommendations for quality improvements.
  • Maintains calibration program.  Performs calibration of production, test and measurement equipment.
  • Provides support to Manufacturing and/or customers as directed in the areas of trouble shooting, materials, procedure and process analysis, and reports findings to management.
  • Performs ISO related activities as needed.  Includes audits, documentation, distribution, and other activities as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

 

  • Ability to use test and measurement tools such as micrometer, tensile and elongation test equipment, adhesion force test equipment, scales and various other lab equipment.
  • Effective problem solving skills

  • Basic computer skills
  • Physical demands include: regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear and climb a ladder with great heights. The employee is frequently required to; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • 3-5 years related quality control or laboratory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with lSO9000 and/or TS16949 compliance, auditing, and document control
