Job Summary: 

 

The Facilities Multi-craft Maintenance Technicians are responsible for execution of general maintenance tasks and repair work on facility systems and equipment.  It also includes execution of small improvement projects.  

 

The Facilities Multi-craft Maintenance (HVAC) Technician position will focus on Refrigeration Systems such as Water Chillers, Air Conditioning Systems and Climate Chambers.  Other areas of focus is climate control systems and equipment including Air Handling Units, Variable Air Volume, Fans, etc.  

 

The Facilities Multi-craft Maintenance (Electronics) Technician position will focus on Electronic Systems:   Fire Systems, Building Management System, Closed Caption Television System, Access Control System and Audio/Video System, etc.    

 

The Facilities Multi-craft Maintenance (Electrical) Technician position will focus on Electrical Systems:  Power distribution system, Lighting system, High voltage substations, Electrical switches and gears, etc. 

 

 

 

 

Principal Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure compliance with appropriate safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as planned and scheduled.
  • Perform emergency response, troubleshooting and repair as needed.
  • Perform any other system improvement work as needed.
  • Ensure that work associated with handling refrigerant is performed in accordance to all local, state and federal regulation.
  • Support planned and scheduled maintenance process.
  • Perform coaching and internal training as needed.
  • Interact in a professional manner with all asset owners in order to provide quality and efficient service
  • Work with Plant Engineers and Specialists as needed to improve existing facility systems or support implementation of new systems.
  • Be proactive in suggesting Continuous Improvements
  • Assist with Environmental, Health and Safety as well as Quality audits and investigations as required.
  • Maintain all documentation in a compliant, organized and controlled manner.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able to perform all maintenance activities related to his/her assigned action area, including planned tasks regarding predictive and preventive maintenance.
  • Apply problem solving skills to reduce the consequences of failure.
  • Take initiative, lead and participate actively in problem analysis, identification of root causes and suitable permanent solutions.
  • Create improvement proposals and execute tasks resulting from improvement proposals.
  • Complete administrative tasks using the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Routinely provide TPM training to operators.
  • Responsible for applying her/his maintenance experience and competence.
  • Responsible for the timely and qualitative execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Responsible for active participation in troubleshooting.
  • Perform duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Competencies/Abilities:

 

  • Must possess the skills and abilities to work autonomously while conducting routine maintenance tasks.
  • Safe and efficient use of tools and instrument to troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems or electronic systems or electrical systems.
  • Assist in warehouse parts and inventory control.
  • Assist in the upgrade of PM's and lubes through planning.
  • Utilize computer systems.
  • Continuously work to protect and enhance Volvo Cars’ reputation.
  • Carries out all duties and responsibilities with the utmost integrity and consistent with the highest ethical standards.
  • Good communication skills and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

 

 

 

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Proven experience and technical knowledge in highly-automated manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry. 
  • HVAC Technician
    • HVAC certification or degree is preferred.
    • Formal HVAC Apprenticeship or equivalent trades training is preferred.
    • 2-3 years of experience maintaining and repairing a variety of Heating, Ventilation and Refrigeration Systems OR
    • 2-3 years of experience with installation, troubleshooting, dismantling, repairing, assembling, inspecting, testing, maintaining, lubricating, and operating various HVAC equipment and components.  
  • Electronics Technician
    • Formal Electronics Apprenticeship or equivalent trades training is desired.
    • 2-3 years of experience maintaining and repairing electronic systems, to include Fire Systems, Building Management Systems, Closed Caption Television Systems, Access Control Systems, Audio/Video Systems OR
    • 2-3 years of experience with installation, troubleshooting, dismantling, repairing, assembling, inspecting, testing, maintaining, lubricating, and operating various electronic equipment and components. 
  • Electrical Technician
    • Formal Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent trades training is desired.
    • 2-3 years of experience handling, operation and safe use of all types of electrical equipment including experience working with 480 V, 3 phases circuits  OR
    • 2-3 years of experience with installation, troubleshooting, dismantling, repairing, assembling, inspecting, testing, maintaining, lubricating, and operating various electrical equipment and components.  

Each position requires all of the skills and experience below:

 

  • Basic hand/power tool familiarity
  • Preferred experience in production.
  • The ability to read and work from blueprints, sketches, charts, manuals, wiring and schematic diagrams, and other technical information and instructions. 
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Availability to work any shift (weekends and overtime) to support emergencies, production overtime, plant shutdown activities, etc....
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job such as lifting and moving up to 33lbs., standing for 8-12 hours per day, bending, squatting or kneeling, climb stairs or ladders.
  • Must be able to legally work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.
