The Department of Health and Human Services, Public
Health Division, is currently accepting applications for the assignment of
extra-help Communicable Disease Assistant. Communicable Disease
Assistants perform a variety of tasks supporting Public Health’s Communicable
Disease, Immunization, and/or Epidemiology programs. The position may be
assigned to perform contact tracing for COVID-19 or other communicable
diseases, participate in vaccination efforts for COVID-19 and other
immunizations, and/or support the epidemiology team with communicable disease
and immunization data entry, tracking, and reporting. The assigned tasks
will vary depending on the current need within the Health and Human Services
Department, Public Health Division. Individuals in this assignment may be
required to work weekdays, weekends, and/or evening hours.
Upon successful completion of a foreign language proficiency exam, an additional 5% bilingual pay will be paid to employees who use a second language on a regular basis in the normal course of business.

Under supervision, performs a variety of tasks contacting members of the public by telephone to index communicable disease cases; trace information received from telephone contact including dates of exposure, exposure setting, and demographics; obtaining information of a confidential and sensitive nature; performs other work as required.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Experience: No experience required. One year of clerical experience is desirable.
Training: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to communicate, read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
