The Placer County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for Administrative Services Manager. This unclassified, management-level position is at will and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the top-priority administrative and fiscal objectives of the Placer County Sheriff's Office by planning, organizing, directing, and developing budgets, contracts, Board memoranda, and grants, as well as directing day-to-day administrative activities and managing human resources and ADA/leave issues. As part of the Command staff for the agency, the incumbent will work closely with and may represent the Sheriff and Undersheriff in developing and/or furthering legislation, programs, and projects which promote the interests of both the Sheriff's Office and the County.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills, will have significant experience performing complex government finance and budgeting analysis, and will display a supportive and team-oriented management style.

To plan, organize, manage, and coordinate the administrative functions as well as designated programmatic/operational responsibilities of an assigned department; to direct, manage, and supervise the work of professional, technical, supervisory, and clerical staff; to establish and implement assigned programs' objectives and performance standards; to serve as a member of the department’s management team which is responsible for fulfilling the mission and carrying out the policies of the department; and to promote and participate in collaborative activities, programs, and projects that cross functional areas.
The Administrative Services Manager job class recognizes positions that provide full second-line, direct supervision to employees within an administrative support work unit and assume substantive and significant responsibility for assigned departmental and/or multi-divisional administration to include fiscal and budgetary, personnel, recordkeeping/documentation, and management information systems activities. Positions in this job class may also direct and manage assigned programmatic and/or operational activities integral to the assigned department’s responsibilities. This classification serves as an advisor to the department head/management team on a variety of complex administrative services and related functions.
Receives general direction from a department director or his/her designee.
Exercises direct supervision over supervisory, professional, technical, and clerical personnel.

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible administrative work experience in budgeting, accounting, finance, public administration, or a comparable field, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. Advanced journey level technical experience may be substituted for up to two years of the required professional experience.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Designated positions may require major course work in specified areas of study.
License or Certificate: May need to possess a valid driver's license as required by the position. Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required.
Prior to the date of hire, applicants must undergo a fingerprint test by the Department of Justice, pass a medical examination (which may include a drug screening and possibly a psychological evaluation), sign a constitutional oath and submit proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to remain and work in the U.S. For some positions, applicants may also be required to submit proof of age, undergo a background investigation (which may include a voice stress analysis and/or a polygraph) and/or be bonded. Additionally, positions in law enforcement classifications, and those supporting law enforcement functions will be required to complete a conviction history questionnaire prior to or during the interview process. Applicants for positions with access to Medi-Cal billing software or who are licensed providers must clear the Federal Exclusion List, credentialing, and social security verification. Failure to clear these requirements may result in an employment offer being withdrawn.
