This position is scheduled to receive a 3% wage increase effective June 9th, 2018.
There is currently one Administrative Legal Supervisor vacancy within the Sheriff's Office Records Unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of the California Public Records Act and prior experience with a law enforcement agency.
The eligible list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies as they arise in the Sheriff's Office and/or the Probation Department.
To plan, organize, direct and supervise operations within an assigned legal division, program, or unit; and to perform a variety of specialized technical tasks relative to assigned area(s) of responsibility.
The Supervisor level recognizes positions that perform full, first-line supervisory responsibilities including planning, assigning, and evaluating the work of subordinates and is responsible for assigned programs and unit service areas within a division or department.
Receives general direction from management staff.
Exercises direct supervision over assigned senior administrative legal clerks, secretarial staff, and/or clerical personnel.

Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible legal administrative, secretarial or clerical experience; with at least one year of lead experience.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade preferably supplemented by college course work in paralegal, business, accounting or a related field.
License or Certificate: May need to possess a valid driver's license as required by the position. Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required.
Training & Experience Rating (100%)
Based upon responses to the supplemental questionnaire, the applicant’s education, training and experience will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the eligible list.
Prior to the date of hire, applicants must undergo a fingerprint test by the Department of Justice, pass a medical examination, which may include a drug screening and possibly a psychological evaluation, sign a constitutional oath and submit proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to remain and work in the U.S. For some positions, applicants may also be required to submit proof of age, undergo a background investigation and/or be bonded.
All new permanent employees, with the exception of sworn law enforcement and those in management and confidential groups, shall be required to join the employee organization or pay an 'Agency Fee' as a condition of employment.
The eligible list(s) resulting from this recruitment may be certified as a substitute list for a substantially similar classification. For this purpose, a substantially similar classification is one at a lower level in the same classification (example: entry level vs. journey) and/or a similar classification (similar work performed, similar training and experience qualifications required).
