This is the supplemental questionnaire for the classification of Deputy Sheriff - II. Part I will not be scored or used for determining minimum qualifications. Part II is not scored but will be available to the hiring authority for interview and selection determination.  Part III will be scored based on your checked responses.

By continuing in this examination process, you are certifying that all information provided in the supplemental questionnaire is true to the best of your knowledge. If selected for an interview, you may be required to display and respond to questions to validate your responses to this exam.

Part I - Conviction History (Not Scored)

Questions in this section will be used as a screening tool only and will not be scored.

Have you been convicted of a crime?

(Conviction of a crime is not necessarily a bar to employment.  Each case is considered separately based on job requirements). 

You must disclose convictions, including reckless and drunk driving convictions, even if:

• It happened a long time ago;
• It was only a misdemeanor;
• You didn’t have to go to court (your attorney went for you);
• You had no jail time or the sentence was only a fine or probation 

You may OMIT:   

• Minor traffic violations;
• An arrest or detention that did not result in a conviction (Labor Code section 432.7);
• An arrest, detention, processing, diversion, supervision, adjudication, or court disposition that occurred while you were subject to the process and jurisdiction of the juvenile court;
• A conviction that has been judicially dismissed or ordered sealed, expunged, or statutorily eradicated pursuant to law (e.g. juvenile offense records sealed pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code section 389 and Penal Code sections 851.7 or 1203.45);
• A non-felony conviction for possession of marijuana that is two or more years old (Labor Code section 432.8).

Part II -  Minimum Qualifications (Not Scored)

This section will not be scored or used for determining minimum qualifications but is provided to the applicant for informational purposes prior to completing the questionnaire. Applicants are required to demonstrate how they meet the minimum qualifications for this position on their application.

Do you possess the equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade or GED?

Do you possess one year of responsible law enforcement training and experience performing duties similar to a Deputy Sheriff I with Placer County?

Do you possess a California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic certificate or equivalency certificate?

Have you completed a Field Training Program? 

Part III -  Training and Experience Supplemental Questions (Scored)

This supplemental questionnaire will serve as the Civil Service examination for this recruitment and will be scored based on your checked responses below. Scores received from this section will determine applicant ranking and placement on the eligible list. Resumes, letters, and other materials will not be evaluated or considered as responses to the items in the supplemental questionnaire. In addition, responses to this questionnaire will not be used for determining minimum qualifications for this position.
