Conviction of a crime is not necessarily a bar to employment.  Each case is considered separately based on job requirements. 

You must disclose convictions, including reckless and drunk driving convictions, even if:

  • It happened a long time ago;
  • It was only a misdemeanor;
  • You didn’t have to go to court (your attorney went for you);
  • You had no jail time or the sentence was only a fine or probation.

You may OMIT:   

  • Minor traffic violations;
  • An arrest or detention that did not result in a conviction (Labor Code section 432.7);
  • An arrest, detention, processing, diversion, supervision, adjudication, or court disposition that occurred while you were subject to the process and jurisdiction of the juvenile court;

 Part II - Department Preference (Not Scored)

Part II of the questionnaire will not be rated but will be screened for Department Preference. Please check the appropriate box for each department/division you are interested in. You may select more than one.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE: The Sheriff's Office safeguards individual liberties, builds community partnerships, prevents crime, and resolves those crimes that do occur. The Sheriff's Office is also responsible for the professional care and custody of those confined within the County's jail facilities. Other duties and services include marshal, security of courts, and investigation of coroner cases. The Corrections Division (jail) is a 24-hour facility, and this position requires working a 5/8, 4/10 or a 9/80 schedule. The Records Division operates Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

PROBATION DEPARTMENT: Positions for the Probation Department may be located at one of several locations in Auburn and Roseville. All Probation clerical positions rotate on an every 2-3 year basis. This means that no matter which location or position you start in, you will be rotated to a different location and position in the future.

DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE: The Office of the District Attorney investigates and prosecutes crime, assists victims and survivors of crime, and protects the health and wellbeing of children while deterring juveniles from criminal activity. The District Attorney (DA) also assists with investigations conducted by law enforcement, making reasonable and ethical decisions when initiating prosecution. Positions for the District Attorney’s Office are located in Roseville and operate Monday- Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
