SECTION I - MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS SCREENING (NON-SCORED)

This section will not be scored but may assist with determining how the applicant reports meeting the minimum qualifications for this classification.

Do you possess two years of experience performing duties similar to those of a Geographic Information System Technician I in Placer County?

Do you possess an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in cartography, GIS or a related field?

SECTION II: EXAMINATION QUESTIONS (SCORED)

This section is the Civil Service examination for this position. Based on your responses to the questions in Section II of this supplemental questionnaire, your job-related experience and training will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the eligible list. Please note that indicating you have no training and/or experience in a specific area will not automatically disqualify you from participating in this recruitment.

Describe your experience accurately updating digital map data with attribute data.

Describe your experience participating in the development of databases associated with the GIS base mapping and subsequent map layers.

Describe your experience verifying accuracy of digitized data using source material to ensure the quality of GIS data.

Describe your experience updating a variety of GIS or map data, including but not limited to, utility, zoning, reference, topographic, political boundary and Assessor parcel maps by updating data through digitizing lines, point and polygons to ensure that maps are current.

Describe your experience preparing maps, line drawings, color graphics, charts, graphs, architectural renderings and other documents or materials for use in brochures, reports and presentations.

Describe your experience preparing, coding and digitizing maps and geographic feature data into the GIS database following pre-established procedures and sequences to update layers within the system.

Describe your experience maintaining GIS data in an SDE or file geodatabase environment.

Describe your experience establishing workflow procedures to efficiently update and maintain spatial data.

Describe your experience automating data maintenance or management through development of automated programs through Python, VB Script or other programming language.

Describe your experience preparing and providing reports and tables, mapped data, and other geographic data, and related information and documents.

Describe your experience creating spatial overlays and compose plots in support of staff projects.

Describe your experience modifying existing database through geoprocessing.

Describe your experience managing and maintaining the ESRI GIS system and all associated data. Performing complex cadastral and GIS data maintenance, manipulation, analysis, extraction and generation assignments; performing data research, investigation and verification.

Describe your experience with providing good customer service and building and maintaining positive work relationships with co-workers, other organizations, and the public.

Describe your experience researching or interpreting legal descriptions.

Describe your experience using AutoCAD.

Please describe the type of maps, ultimate use of maps, and software and tools that you have used to generate map products.
