Supplemental Questionnaire

This is the supplemental questionnaire for the classification of Associate Planner. Part I will not be scored nor used for determining minimum qualifications but is provided for the applicant to review prior to completing the questionnaire.  Part II will be scored based on your checked responses.  Narratives provided by applicants describing training and/or experience will not be scored but will be available to the hiring authority and may be utilized for interview and selection determinations. Part III will not be scored but may be used by the hiring department when determining assignment.

If selected for interview, you may be required to display and respond to questions to validate your responses to this exam.

Part I: Minimum Qualification Screening (Non-Scored)

Do you have at least two years of experience performing professional planning duties in preparing and reviewing plans and other documents related to land use, environmental protection, community plans, and environmental compliance?

Do you possess the equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban, regional or environmental planning or related field? Applicants receiving their degree outside the United States must submit proof of accreditation by a recognized evaluation agency. Relevant, equivalent experience performing similar duties may be substituted for the required education as determined by the Human Resources Department.

Part II: Relevant Knowledge and Experience – Scored Examination

This section of the supplemental questionnaire is the Civil Service examination for this position. This supplemental questionnaire will be scored based on your checked responses below. Narratives provided by applicants describing training and/or experience will not be scored, but will be available to the hiring authority and may be utilized for interview and selection determination. Scores received from this section will determine applicant ranking and placement on the eligible list.

For the items in this section, please indicate your level of training and experience and then provide a brief description of your related experience in the space provided.

Do you have experience reviewing current planning development project applications for variances, conditional use permits, tentative subdivision maps, parcel maps, design review, and/or lot line adjustments for conformance to zoning, general plan/community plan policies, environmental and other legal requirements?
