There is a current vacancy within the Community Development Resource Agency (CDRA) in the Engineering and Surveying division located in Auburn. This position will have an emphasis on engineering plan checking to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards. Incumbents will be required to coordinate with other County departments and outside consultants, particularly contract land developers and design consultants/ engineers. The Community Development Resource Agency (CDRA) regulates land use and development in the unincorporated area of Placer County. The Agency maintains offices in the Auburn and Tahoe area.
There is a current vacancy within the Western Placer Waste Management Authority located in Roseville staffed by the Department of Public Works. The position will be responsible for monitoring construction and operations contracts, conceptualizing, designing, planning, and permitting any capital improvements required to ensure regulatory compliance and service for customers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate capacity to: understand regulations; read, interpret and write operations contracts and reports; apply general engineering judgment to the design of civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and controls engineering projects; maintain working relationships with coworkers, regulators, contractors, consultants and customers.
There is a current vacancy within the Placer County Stormwater Quality and Floodplain Programs which are part of the Public Works Department in Auburn CA. The candidate would be responsible for reviewing and evaluating NPDES Permit requirements, recommending and implementing compliance actions, and supervising the work of consultants and other staff. They would also be responsible for preparing engineering studies and reports, and evaluating the work of other professional engineers, pertaining to storm water quality and floodplain management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate capacity to: understand regulations; read, interpret and write technical engineering reports; perform highly complex and difficult professional engineering work requiring a high level of independent judgment and technical expertise; maintain working relationships with coworkers, regulators, contractors, consultants and the public.

To perform professional and technical engineering work in the office and in the field related to public works/civil engineering projects and programs of the Public Works Department.
This is the full journey level class within the Engineer series. This class is distinguished from the Junior Engineer by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the entry level.
This class is distinguished from the Associate Civil Engineer in that the latter performs highly complex professional civil engineering duties requiring a high level of skill and independent judgement and exercises direct supervision over professional staff.
Receives direction from an Associate Civil Engineer.
May exercise technical and functional supervision over less experienced professional positions and technical staff.

Experience and Training
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Two years of responsible professional engineering experience performing duties similar to a Junior Engineer with Placer County.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
License or Certificate:
NOTE: Applicants receiving their degree outside the United States must submit proof of accreditation by a recognized evaluation agency.
Ability to: Perform professional engineering work not requiring registration as a Civil Engineer.
Training & Experience Rating (100%)
Based upon responses to the supplemental questionnaire, the applicant’s education, training, and experience will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the eligible list.
Prior to the date of hire, applicants must undergo a fingerprint test by the Department of Justice, pass a medical examination (which may include a drug screening and possibly a psychological evaluation), sign a constitutional oath, and submit proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to remain and work in the U.S. For some positions, applicants may also be required to submit proof of age, undergo a background investigation (which may include a voice stress analysis and/or a polygraph), and/or be bonded. Additionally, positions in law enforcement classifications and those supporting law enforcement functions will be required to complete a conviction history questionnaire prior to or during the interview process. Applicants for positions with access to Medi-Cal billing software or who are licensed providers must clear the Federal Exclusion List, credentialing, and social security verification. Failure to clear these requirements may result in an employment offer being withdrawn.
The eligible list resulting from this recruitment may be certified as a substitute list for a substantially similar classification. For this purpose, a substantially similar classification is one at a lower level in the same classification (example: entry level vs. journey level) and/or a similar classification (similar work performed, similar training and experience qualifications required).
