To plan, organize, and direct the activities of assigned divisions within the Public Works Department; to coordinate assigned activities with other divisions and departments; and to provide highly complex staff assistance to the Director of Public Works and Assistant Director of Public Works.
The Deputy Director level assumes full functional responsibility for a major division(s), which provides diverse, but related, programs.
Receives administrative direction from the Director of Public Works and the Assistant Director of Public Works.
Exercises direct supervision over management, supervisory, professional, technical, and clerical personnel.
Experience and Training
Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in civil engineering, public works management, public or business administration, or surveying/land development engineering, including two (2) years of management responsibility.
Training: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, public or business administration, or a closely related field. Additional training in management is highly desirable.
