Under supervision, performs a variety of higher-level manual and clerical tasks preparing elections materials; issues ballots, checks and verifies signatures and records precinct petitions; prepares for election vote counting; and performs other work as required.
This is the advanced journey level classification in the Elections Aide series. Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assigned, the complexity of duties assigned, independence of action taken, and by the nature of the public contact made. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of election day support duties assigned to classes within this series, are expected to be fully trained in their functional area of assignment, and may provide technical and functional supervision over an assigned elections team comprised of lower level staff, volunteers, and the public.
Incumbents in this classification work on an extra-help only basis, and as such cannot work more than 1000 hours in a fiscal year, nor are they eligible to be transitioned into a permanent full-time position. Assigned tasks are performed on an as-needed basis, usually during peak work periods generated by preparatory and subsequent activities related to elections.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Experience: Some paid work or voluntary experience assisting with elections, including public contact which provides the abilities required above. Experience working with the public at a lead or supervisory level is desirable.
Training: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
