The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF) is seeking a full time Agricultural Services Administrator II in the Oklahoma Forestry Services. This (PIN #04000178) is a position working in the headquarters office for the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture. The State of Oklahoma offers a comprehensive benefits packet, including a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. The annual salary for this position is up to $76,000.00 based on education and experience.

This position entails State-wide responsibilities. The incumbent will develop program goals, assign tasks, supervise on-going work projects, and monitor work project progress.  In addition, the incumbent will negotiate contracts according to State policy, ensure the contract requirements are clear and costs commensurate with project needs. Must have basic computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook. Must be available for travel associated with the position, which can include travel to satellite offices up to 50% and out of state travel up to 10%.

The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of Forestry Services’ Forest Management Programs, including but not limited to: Forest stewardship, forest health, forest water quality, forest tree improvement, forest regeneration, forest inventory & analysis, and urban/community forestry. The incumbent will develop networks to communicate with other Federal, State, and local agencies to find ways to grow and deliver the best species and quantities needed for forest management planting projects.  Interpersonal skills are critical to the success of this position.  Communication may be in person, written, phone and by electronic media. The incumbent will also oversee Forestry Services’ satellite offices Must be capable of possessing a relationship of respect and trust between themselves and their employees.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include advanced knowledge of Forest Management principles and practices. Knowledge of state and federal laws concerning agricultural production and environmental protection; of various agricultural products and services and industry operations in the area of assignment; of business and economics theory; of general accounting principles; of various plant and animal diseases; of weights and measures; of budget preparation and control; and of supervisory principles and practices. Ability is required to manage programs and personnel; to interpret state and federal laws; to prepare and develop training programs; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to write technical reports; and to supervise and direct the work of others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, economics, forestry, public administration, marketing, chemistry, biological sciences, physical sciences, mathematics, OR a closely related field AND three years of experience in agricultural inspection, regulation or production, forestry, plant industries, laboratory management, consumer protection, or public administration, PLUS five years of experience in a supervisory capacity, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
