Accountant I

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Operations and working closely with the senior accountant, the Accountant I will primarily be responsible for performing routine entry level tasks involving the maintenance of financial information, reviewing and processing routine vouchers and invoices for payment, preparation of routine or standardized accounting reports and financial statements and the reconciliation of simple accounting transactions, preparing purchase orders and change orders, and other similar activities.

Accountant’s duties include:
•Maintain financial information
•Reviewing, processing and tracking routine vouchers and invoices for payment
•Preparing routine or standardized accounting reports and financial statements
•Performing reconciliations of simple accounting transactions
•Maintain various ledgers, journals, registers and other fiscal records
•Classifies expenditures and posts to various accounts as required
•Creates requisitions, purchase orders and change orders in PeopleSoft
•Other duties as assigned
•This position will not supervise

Salary Range:
$38,000 - $42,000/annually plus benefits

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and theories
•Knowledge of financial statements and reports
•Knowledge of accounting ledgers and journals
•Knowledge of computer technology related to accounting systems
•Ability to prepare basic financial statements and reports
•Ability to review and analyze financial information
•Ability to maintain routine accounting data in appropriate ledgers and journals
•Ability to maintain effective working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives and cultures
•Ability to handle confidential work with tact and discretion; and to triage and handle routine matters in accordance with agency policy

TSET staff are based in Oklahoma and currently work remotely several days per week in a paperless environment. Successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or a closely related field
OR
•An equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of accounting for each year of the required degree.
