JOB SUMMARY
Under direction of the Assistant Deputy Superintendent of School Support a School Support Specialist provides support, assistance and/or resources needed to build capacity and sustain change that positively impacts students and their achievement. The specialist will facilitate the Continuous Improvement Cycle for Oklahoma public schools in alignment with the requirements of the United States Department of Education and the Oklahoma Consolidated ESSA Plan to build capacity and sustain change that positively impacts student achievement.

• Remain knowledgeable of current trends, best practices, and research in teaching techniques, methods, and practices; trends and resources of information in educational instruction;
• Knowledge of technology and software (Webinars, Interactive White Boards, Microsoft Office) and ability to use technology and software to maximize efficiency and services;
• To express clearly and concisely the philosophies, practices and policies of the
Oklahoma State Department of Education;
• Considerable knowledge and experience in English Language Arts, Math, Special Education and/or Science curriculum including standards and assessments; school improvement reform, intervention and evidence- based strategies implementation;
• Knowledge of federal and state school laws, rules and regulations as they pertain to federal assistance programs, school improvement and the Oklahoma Consolidated ESSA plan;
• Ability to use technology to examine plans of improvement, budgets and financial claims according to the policies and procedures of the Oklahoma Cost Accounting System.
• Ability to share ideas, strategies and programs relating to instruction in order to improve student achievement;

TRAVEL
• Frequent travel to schools within the assigned service region. Some overnight travel may be necessary.

TELEWORK
• This position is eligible to telework up to two (2) day a week after supervisor approval and completion of initial training. A Telework Agreement is required upon hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 
• Work is typically performed in a climate-controlled office setting with exposure to moderate noise. While performing the duties of the job, employee is frequently required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computer and phone. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
• The work environment for this position includes:
o travel in and around the Oklahoma City metro area.
• Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine/printer, office telephone;
• Frequently ascends/descends stairs;
• Frequently communicates with others accurately and effectively;
• Frequently lift up to 25 lbs.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis;
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check;
• Must possess a US driver’s license to perform necessary job-related travel.

SALARY
$72,800/YEAR

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in Education [official transcript(s) required];
• Ten (10) years’ experience as an instructional coach, principal, curriculum specialist, professional development provider and/or other leadership position;
• Possession of a valid Oklahoma standard teaching certificate;
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of relevant experience for each year of the required education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge of Special Education, English Learners, student academic achievement and family engagement.
