The Oklahoma Water Resources Board is a state agency responsible for overseeing the complex mission of managing, monitoring, planning for and financing the state's water resources and infrastructure towards reliable future supplies that support strong communities, commerce, and the environment. The agency is seeking a full-time Public Information Officer to join our family of professionals in delivering exceptional services and expertise to Oklahomans.

Position: Public Information Officer I (E44A)
Division: Administrative Services
Section: Public Information & Records
Salary:  $41,500 Annually; comprehensive benefits package includes a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents and more.
Location of Work: 3800 Classen Boulevard; Oklahoma City, OK  73118
Trial Period: 12 months in accordance with (OAC) 260:130-19-30
Travel: Occasional overnight travel is required.

Typical Job Functions:
• Works with agency staff to establish, develop, and maintain marketing initiatives and promotional materials.
• Prepares, edits, coordinates, and distributes news releases and public service announcements.
• Prepares agency newsletters, brochures, web pages, and social media posts.
• Assists with the coordination of agency meetings, events, and conferences.
• Serves as photographer for the agency.
• Serves as backup administrator for agency’s document imaging system & scans agency documents as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.                   

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies: Strong communications skills and advanced knowledge of English usage, including grammar and composition; of public relations principles and techniques; of accepted styles for materials released to various media; of media sources and their capabilities; of visual graphics and video techniques; of agency's objectives; and of editing techniques and procedures. Ability is required to write and edit; to gather and organize pertinent data; to uphold and practice public relations principles and codes of ethics; to deliver informational presentations; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Prefer HTML coding and database management experience, but not required.

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, marketing, English or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in writing and editing, radio and/or television, public relations or serving as a public information officer.
