Location: Oklahoma School for the Blind– Muskogee
Salary: Annual salary range is commensurate with education and years of experience. Salary ranges $36,601.00 (Bachelor’s Degree) - $51,971.00 (Master’s Degree). Employees are provided paid health, dental, life and retirement benefits as well as an option to participate in the State’s tax-deferred annuity program. This will be a 180-day per year, contracted position.
Essential Functions: Position is a K-12 Physical Education Teacher/Wrestling coach. Position will be responsible for physical education classes and coaching wrestling. Wrestling duties will be for Elementary/Middle School and High School students. Responsible for providing learning experiences by utilizing school curriculum, IEP goals, and objective and appropriate materials and activities. Duties include preparing lesson plans, keeping records of student behavior and attitude needed to provide an orderly productive classroom environment, and maintain appropriate reports and documents necessary to comply with school policy and meet the local, state and federal requirements to include lesson plans, progress reports, IEPs, curriculum materials and other items as necessary; ascertain learning needs of students and establish evaluation techniques for assessment of progress, as well as participate in extracurricular activities.
Preference may be given to applicants with Visual Impairment Certification or experience working with blind or visually impaired students is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Provide education in accordance with each students’ individual needs.
