Income Tax Accounts Trainer –Income Tax Accounts Division

The Income Tax Accounts Trainer is assigned responsibilities involving the training and professional development of employees within the Income Tax Accounts (ITA) Division.  This position will organize training schedules, develop training programs, and prepare training materials for new employees, as well as assisting current employees with new processes and ensuring all staff is up-to-date on all current laws, rules, and policies in order for the Oklahoma Tax Commission to provide exceptional customer service to our taxpayers. 

The functions performed by employees in this job family will vary by level, but may include the following:

• Collects and prepares information to be used to create materials, including lesson plans, training guides, participant manuals, videos, slides, and other educational materials
• Creates and maintains division training schedules
• Trains new employees on agency policies and procedures, as well as all division modules; provides refresher trainings for established employees
• Gathers and evaluates information from employees and management on previous training to identify weaknesses and areas that need additional training
• Identifies individuals and/or groups who are in need of additional training, and makes recommendations on improving soft skills, tax knowledge, account maintenance, etc.
• Establishes and maintains regularly scheduled meetings with supervisors to discuss training opportunities needed for team members
• Counsels employees and supervisors concerning training problems and provides information about additional educational opportunities
• Monitors and tracks all division training plans and provides progress reports to supervisors
• Provides updates on division training initiatives, action items, and activities
• Participates in the planning of daily huddle meetings, team meetings, or email blasts, including mapping out the content on a calendar, preparing materials, and leading the huddle time with supervisors
• Assists supervisors with employment interviews upon request
• Assists with onboarding new employees
• Supports the division with other duties as assigned

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of
• A bachelor’s degree in any field
• OR four years of experience in accounting, clerical office, training, or closely related field
• OR an equivalent combination of education

Preference may be given to applicants who have at least two years of training or supervising experience, specifically in a tax environment.

Applicants must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to perform all job-related travel.  Possession and maintenance of a valid Oklahoma State Driver’s License is also required. 

Core work hours for the Oklahoma Tax Commission are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm.  This schedule may require flexibility, including some weekends and overtime, based on the needs of the agency.

Telework may be required based on the needs of the agency, division, and section.  If applicable, applicant must be willing and able to BOTH work on-site and telework at an off-site location, generally in the applicant’s home.  Applicant must have a secure internet connection and a dedicated telephone (landline) or smart phone device during scheduled working hours.
