JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction, perform responsible duties involving the development, maintenance and use of multimedia graphics for publications, presentations and web-based allocations; establish and implement branding standards; create and prepare publications from design through printing, proofing and distribution; perform related work as required.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Under direction of State Superintendent and Communications Executive Director and in coordination with other Team members, create, lay out and apply edits on informational and educational publications for the agency; prepare for print regular and special projects working with Communications and other OSDE team members to meet established deadlines;
• Design and produce logos, graphs and charts, overheads, handouts, animation sequences for video and other graphics as needed to support multimedia services for presentations, publications and website;
• Design, illustrate and lay out projects for sections of the department needing logos, brochures, flyers, report covers etc. at the direction of the State Superintendent, Chief of Staff or Communications Executive Director;
• Serve as consultant for other art-related and computer-designed projects within the Department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
• Oversees the daily workflow of the Creative Services Graphic Designer
• Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
• Handles discipline of employees in accordance with OSDE policy

TRAVEL
No travel required

TELEWORK
This position is eligible to telework up to two (2) days week with supervisor approval. A Telework Agreement is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 
• Work is typically performed in an climate controlled office setting with exposure to moderate noise. While performing the duties of the job, employee is frequently required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computer and phone. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
• Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine/printer, office telephone;
• Frequently ascends/decends stairs;
• Frequently communicates with others accurately and effectively;
• Frequently lift up to 25 lbs.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis;
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check;
• Must possess a US drivers’ license to perform necessary job related travel.

SALARY RANGE
$51,000-$56,000

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelors Degree in graphic design or closely related field [official transcript(s) required upon hire];
• Five (5) years of professional experience in communications, publication production, commercial art, graphic production, desktop publishing and/or similar field(s); or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of the above defined professional experience for each year of the required education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
NOTE:  Publication and graphic samples must be provided along with the application.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL 
• Knowledge of graphic production in Adobe Creative Cloud; of desktop publishing in Adobe InDesign; of presentation development in Microsoft PowerPoint or Apple Keynote; of multimedia production and services terminology and techniques; and of web-based presentation software and their capabilities; Publication and graphic samples must be provided along with application;
• Possess strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills; knowledge of grammar and proficiency in AP writing style; Possess excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines;
• Collaborate as a team player with other agency staff to deliver quality programs and services; Demonstrate excellent planning and organizational skills; attention to detail;
• Develop, implement and monitor adherence to the agency branding strategy and incorporate agency mission, vision, an goals as appropriate;
• Have the ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate;
• Have the ability to function well in a high-paced and at time stressful environment;
• Conscientious commitment and willingness to provide courteous, consistent and efficient customer service through the performance of the prescribed job duties.
• Establish and oversee timelines for agency wide publication production schedules.
