Introduction

 This position is located at the Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center in Tecumseh OK

 

 Training Specialists are assigned responsibilities directly involving the research, development and delivery of training courses and professional development to all OJA employees. The majority of training topics are mandatory in accordance with various statutory requirements, OSHA requirements, PREA standards, ACA standards, OPI requirements, and OJA policy and procedural training requirements, and employees must meet all training requirements annually. This position requires travel to training sites to deliver mandatory classroom-based training curriculum, and delivery of virtual training opportunities to a large virtual audience.  This position assists in maintaining training records and the training database (in accordance with ACA standards), for each employee, for all course instruction attended both within OJA and outside of OJA. 

Training Specialist II Annual Salary – $41,587.40

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of adult education principles and techniques; of classroom and on-the-job training principles; of various types of equipment and materials used in conducting training; of curriculum development methods and techniques; and of software used for rapid online course development. Ability is required to conduct classroom training, workshops or seminars; to use video, audio and other types of equipment to present training; to gather information to use in developing training courses; to communicate effectively; to use small group facilitation tools; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to plan and organize adult education courses and facilitation activities; and to plan and evaluate training activities.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelors degree plus one year of experience in education or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of qualifying experience for each year of the bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in education or training; or a master's degree in adult education or human resource development.

Preferred Qualifications
An applicant who specializes in both design and delivery of leadership, supervisory and team-building training curriculum.
