Introduction

Paralegal/Legal Assistant

The primary role served by this position is to provide legal assistance to multiple attorneys, including: analyzing legal documents; preparing pleadings, briefs, exhibits, and correspondence; and coordinating with support staff for document production and filing in both state and federal courts.

Description of Duties:
• Assist attorneys and investigators with case planning, development, and management.
• Maintain and organize legal case files, both in paper and digital format. Track and maintain case deadlines.
• Draft, edit and proofread correspondence, briefs, pleadings, and other documents for attorneys. Summarize deposition and trial transcripts and exhibits.
• Investigate facts of cases, conduct legal research, analyze legal documents, and search public records and other resources to prepare cases and to determine causes of action.
• Conduct case interviews, review and docket discovery, and file pleadings.
• Assist with trial and hearing preparation including the assembly of exhibits, witness binders and appendices for depositions and court filings.
• Clerical, administrative, and office management type duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or other closely related field AND at least one (1) year of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant OR equivalent combination of education and experience totaling five (5) years.

Preference may be given to candidates with:
• Paralegal or Legal Assistant formal training or certification
• Extensive experience drafting and filing legal documents
• Experience in civil litigation support
