Introduction

Salary Range:  $3,401.08-$3,739.17 per month (May be underfilled at a level II)
Location: Oklahoma City

Benefits:  This is a full-time unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance for the employee.  The employee receives a benefit allowance to assist with insurance cost.  Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately.

Basic Purpose:  Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving installing and maintaining intrusion detection systems, camera systems, access control systems, and maintaining emergency communications equipment. This includes determining systems requirements, planning and coordinating installation of equipment, performing maintenance on existing systems as needed, and supervision of contractors, or vendors when assisting on various projects.

Essential Functions:
• Installs, maintains and repairs intrusion detection equipment; monitors communication system circuits to ensure constant readiness
• Installs, maintains, and repairs camera systems; updating firmware and software as required on camera’s and network video recorders
• Installs, maintains, and repairs access control devices; updating computer software as required  
• Analyzes operational defects of equipment and dry lines; locates and isolates problems using multi-meters, service monitors; telephone test sets, line testers. Amperage load meters and other testing equipment as required
• Trains personnel in the use of these systems, completes all maintenance paperwork; assists in developing training for augmented security personnel in the testing and use of various alarm systems or components
• Maintains vehicle and ensures an adequate amount of spare parts, tools, supplies are stocked to meet service requirements; maintains accountability of all tools and parts

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  required at this level include  knowledge of electronics theory as applied to telecommunications, intrusion detection and alarm systems; of methods, tools, materials, meters and test equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronics and telecommunications equipment; of hazards and safety practices associated with working with electricity; of managerial principles and practices; and of federal, state and local laws and ordinances governing the parameter requirements of intrusion detection and fire notification equipment. Ability is required to plan installations; to prepare, modify and read blueprints and drawings; to maintain and repair electronics and communications equipment; to maintain effective intrusion detection and alarm systems through sound management practices; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Physical Requirements:
• Standing for long periods of time
• Able to lift minimum of 15 pounds

Notes:  This position is located at the Regional Training Institute (RTI) in Oklahoma City, OK. 

Travel may be required at the expense of the employee to be reimbursed within 45 days of travel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
Level III requirements at this level consist of six years of skilled-level experience in electronics repair work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of education/training in the electronics field for each year of the required experience.

Level II: requirements at this level consist of three years of skilled-level experience in electronics repair work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of education/training in the electronics field for each year of the required experience.
