Library Technician III

The Oklahoma Department of Libraries (ODL) is now accepting applications for the position of Circulation Technician (Library Technician III [E20C]) in the Office of Library Resources. Salary is $32,240. A full suite of benefits is provided including health, dental, life and disability insurance; 15 days of annual leave per year, increasing after five, ten and twenty years of employment; 15 sick leave days per year; 11 observed holidays; and a lump sum longevity payment after 2 years of service that increases every two years.

Job Summary:
The Circulation Technician holds primary responsibility for providing excellent customer service at the main customer service desk at the State Library located in Allen Wright building of State Capital Complex in Oklahoma City, OK. This
position accomplishes this goal by conducting circulation and ready reference services, instructing customers in the use of library technology such as copiers, scanners, and research computers, processing holds and interlibrary loan requests,
and shelving and filing materials.

Job Duties:
• Provides excellent circulation and customer service in person at the main information desk, by phone and by email.
• Creates and maintains library card accounts. Answers questions regarding customer accounts and circulation records.
• Assists with processing holds and interlibrary loan requests, and coordinates with courier services for interlibrary loan items delivery.
• Provides ready reference and technology assistance to customers, including Internet and database searching. Refers traditional reference questions to librarian subject experts.
• Conducts collection maintenance under the supervision of the Administrative Librarian.
• Under direction of the Librarian IV, develops procedures and recommends policies for work unit.
• Performs basic cataloging of library materials using on-line databases.
• Processes archival records or library materials.
• Accurately shelves and files library materials. Assists with inventory projects.
• Maintains various files, records and statistics.

Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge of basic clerical procedures, of grammar, punctuation, and spelling,

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one year of library experience; or five years of library experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of OCLC Worldshare Management Services Integrated Library System.
