About the Position: Provide professional nursing services in a variety of settings, including: nursing assessments, planning, interventions, health related education, case management, and administering medications and treatments prescribed by a person authorized to prescribe by state law. Incumbent will be responsible for supervision of staff.
NOTE: Nurse Externs will not give medications or start IVs.
8 hour shifts
Annual Salary Options:
Level III: $65,000/$31.25 hourly
Level II: $60,000/$28.85 hourly
Level I: $55,000/$26.44 hourly
Level II - $20.00 hourly
Level I - $18.09 hourly
PLUS Shift Differentials: $3.00 for evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays!
Primary Working Hours are 6:30a – 3p (Day Shift), 2:30p -11p (Evening Shift) or 10:30p – 7a (Overnight)
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Level III – Bachelor’s in Nursing and possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or Registered Nurse License recognized by the eNLC and one year of professional nursing experience OR Associate in Nursing and two years of professional nursing experience OR Associate in Nursing and three years of LPN experience in psychiatric nursing.
Level II – Bachelor’s in Nursing and possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or Registered Nurse License recognized by the eNLC OR Associate in Nursing and one year of professional nursing experience OR Associate in Nursing and two years of LPN experience in psychiatric nursing.
Level I – Associate in Nursing and possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or Registered Nurse License recognized by the eNLC.
Level II: Must have completed an accredited nursing program and be able to pass the NCLEX exam within 6 months of graduation.
Level I: Must be halfway through an accredited nursing program.
Note: eNLC refers to the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact. If the applicant has an out of state license with eNLC, s/he cannot be in a position that bills.

Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.
Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.

About us: Griffin Memorial Hospital (GMH) is located in Norman, Oklahoma, and serves all 77 counties in Oklahoma as the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) treatment center for adults. GMH provides community crisis stabilization and residential treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring mental health and trauma related conditions.
