Location:  Oklahoma School for the Blind – Muskogee

Salary: 
Annual salary range is commensurate with education and years of experience. Salary ranges $36,601.00 (Bachelor’s Degree) - $51,971.00 (Master’s Degree). Employees are provided paid health, dental, life and retirement benefits as well as an option to participate in the State’s tax-deferred annuity program.  This will be a 180-day per year, contracted position. 

Essential Functions:
Position is a language arts teacher for 6th – 8th grade students. Position is primarily responsible for specialized instruction and services required to meet the unique educational needs of visually impaired students. Position is responsible for providing instructional services for students based upon the curriculum requirements for each student’s IEP (Individual Educational Plan); prepare lesson plans, keeping records of student behavior and attitude needed to provide an orderly productive classroom environment, and maintain appropriate reports and documents necessary to comply with school policy and meet the local, state and federal requirements to include lesson plans, progress reports, IEPs, curriculum materials and other items as necessary; ascertain learning needs of students and establish evaluation techniques for assessment of progress, as well as participate in extracurricular activities.

Preference may be given to applicants with Visual Impairment Certification or experience working with blind or visually impaired students is preferred but not required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Teaching certification issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Education in middle school language arts.
