The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF) is seeking a full time Geographic Information System Specialist III in the Oklahoma Forestry Services. This position (PIN #04000857) is a position working in the Oklahoma City Office in the Department of Agriculture building. The annual salary for this position is up to $53,500.00 based on education and experience.
This position will be responsible for managing and analyzing geographical information and for developing and maintaining the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases; understanding program needs and responding accordingly; analyzing spatial and attribute data using various GIS software, displaying data through the use of maps, reports, charts and tables using plotters and printers; create, maintain, and update tables and views in both spatial and non-spatial databases using GIS, computer aided drafting, and other software, developing, and maintaining links between various databases; managing multi-faceted GIS projects both independently and as a member of a team. Developing, implementing, and supporting geospatial systems are necessary to integrate wildland fire dispatching and reporting.
The job requires outdoor work 10% of the time in adverse conditions.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems (GIS), geography, geology, cartography, archaeology, anthropology, natural resources, computer science, engineering, environmental science or a closely related field and two years of professional level experience in GIS work; or a master's degree in one of the listed areas and one year of professional level experience in GIS work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of technical experience in GIS systems work for each year of the required education.
