Budget Accountant Lead

Introduction

This position is located in ODOT's Central office in the Comptroller Division.

Job Duties:
This position will be in the Budget Section of the Comptroller Division.

The responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Provide budget reporting support on a daily, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Assist in gathering, preparing and reviewing data for the budget request, budget hearing process, budget work program and budget revisions.
• Maintain various budget ledgers and budget journals
• Participate in support of the daily update of the general ledger and vendor database
• Prepare monthly reconciliations of budgeted allotments and related reports.
• Working with agency staff to prepare and publish a comprehensive annual budget book.

Actively participate in the Transportation Cabinet's Modernization Initiative. Provide feedback and collaborate to enhance processes, encourage efficiencies and develop better communication with management and peers.

Occasional travel as needed for work, training, meetings, etc.

Analytical skills computer skills and software capabilities are critical to this position.

Preference may be given to applicants knowing Excel, Oracle Apex, Oracle BI, GAAP, GASB and Governmental Accounting.

This is the leadership level where employees are assigned responsibilities involving the direction or supervision of the work activities of an accounting unit, project, or program on a regular and consistent basis.  This includes responsibility for planning, reviewing and organizing the work of an assigned staff as well as performing related administrative functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a bachelor’s degree in business, finance or a closely related field plus four years of professional accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
