Introduction

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF) is seeking a full time Forester III in the Forestry Department. This is position (PIN #04000127) in state government, located in Sallisaw, OK. The State of Oklahoma offers a comprehensive Benefits Packetincluding a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. The annual salary for this position is up to $43,517.00 based on education and experience.

Position Description:
This position will be responsible for coordinate program activities, answering phones, writing long-term forest stewardship plans, evaluating pest management problems and making recommendations to the public for control, educational programs, urban forestry program management, and other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position requires extensive travel (up to 90% of the year) as required for training and job performance throughout the state. This position will be working in the field in all weather conditions while carrying heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and collecting forest data. The position will require extensive hiking and interaction with the public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree in forestry or a related natural resources degree, plus three years of professional forestry experience; or a Master’s degree in Forestry and two years of professional forestry experience; or a Doctoral degree in Forestry and one year of professional forestry experience.

Note: Professional forestry experience may include internships in forestry work.
