Senior Director of Prevention Services
About the Position:
Under administrative direction, provides senior leadership and direction in planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising the statewide prevention service system for the prevention of substance use, overdose, suicide, and other mental, emotional, behavioral problems Serves as principal advisor on prevention services and policies; develops strategic plans for short and long range objectives; prepares/provides prevention education and testimony; develops/manages key stakeholder relationships; leads prevention resource development and division budget management; and supervises key prevention personnel.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field in public health administration, business, or public administration or a related degree and five years professional managerial experience in the field of mental health/substance use prevention or preventive public health, two of which shall include senior level leadership of complex public health initiative(s) and budget oversight OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preference may be given to applicants Certified Prevention Specialist.

The role of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) Prevention Division is to create healthy communities, in which people have a high quality of life, including healthy environments at home, work and in school; supportive communities and meaningful connections with others; and communities free of problems related to mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. ODMHSAS uses the Strategic Prevention Framework to plan and implement effective prevention services. The framework is built on a public health model of risk and protective factors and utilizes evidence-informed services. Prevention services include but are not limited to: community-based prevention coalition services, school-based prevention programs and MTSS/ISF approaches, Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment, family-based primary prevention, harm reduction, prevention workplace skills training, epidemiologic data collection and utilization, prevention workforce development.
