JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction of the Executive Director of Counseling & School-Based Mental Health Integration, provide program evaluation and technical assistance to Alternative Education Programs across the State of Oklahoma.

PLEASE NOTE: This position is funded through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER). The funding for this position will expire in December of 2024. It is the goal of the Oklahoma State Department of Education to apply for more funding if it becomes available.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education or related area [official transcripts required];
• Five (5) years of experience in Alternative Education, School Counseling or School Administration.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education or releated area [official transcripts required].

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
● Considerable knowledge of current literature, teaching techniques, methods, assessment and evaluation appropriate to alternative education programs;
● Ability to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and adopt an effective course of technical assistance; to organize and present facts and opinions clearly and concisely; to establish effective working relations with other employees and the public; to exercise tact, courtesy and initiative to adapt to an automated work environment;
● Communication skills that promote the “team concept” and reflect a high level of professionalism;
● Applicants must be willing and able to perform necessary job-related travel;
● Conscientious commitment and willingness to provide courteous, consistent efficient service through the performance of the prescribed job duties.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
● Relate state laws and regulations to alternative education site directors, administrators and local school administrators;
● Make on-site visits to alternative education programs as directed to provide technical assistance in the implementation of alternative education;
● Make recommendations to the Executive Director of Academic Counseling concerning in-service activities, emerging issues, problems, and new technologies;
● Deal with operational problems in the statewide program of alternative education;
● Assist in compiling the drop-out report including the Power Point presentation and materials for distribution;
● Assist in planning and conducting sessions on alternative education at state and regional conferences;
● Distribute necessary forms, instructional materials and related information to alternative education academies, schools and programs;
● Assist in the collection of materials and research needed for grant applications to be submitted by the State Department of Education;
● Assist in the preparation, distribution and interpretation of the annual update of the statewide student needs assessment.

SALARY RANGE
$50,000-$55,000/YEAR
