JOB SUMMARY
Arts Specialists will work under the direct supervision of the Art Tech Project Manager to provide support to teaching artists, teachers, and schools participating in arts education through hybrid (both online and face-to-face) arts courses and provide coaching, modeling, and professional development. Specialists will be facilitating partnerships with university faculty and staff, and tribal nations (Osage and Chickasaw) managing teaching artists, and participating schools.

PLEASE NOTE: This position is funded through a federally awarded grant from the U.S. Department of Education that will expire on September 29, 2025. It is the goal of the Oklahoma State Department of Education to apply for additional funding opportunities as they become available.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education or related field [official transcript(s) required];
• Standard Oklahoma teaching certificate in an art discipline (visual arts, dance, music, and speech/drama/debate).

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Master’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university in Education or related field [official transcript(s) required];
• Minimum of five (5) years of elementary and/or secondary teaching experience.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Capacity to learn about other art disciplines and the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Fine Arts and their respective communities outside of your primary discipline;
• Ability to monitor progress and participation of teaching artists;
• Ability to improve teaching and learning for teaching artists;
• Assist in gathering data at the school level for evaluation purposes;
• Ability to effectively organize one’s own time and complex collaborative projects;
• Ability to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions; organize and present facts and perspectives clearly; follow instructions; effectively conduct all matters in accordance with agency policy; establish effective working relationships with other employees; and exercise tact, courtesy and initiative;
• Conscientious commitment and willingness to provide courteous, consistent, and efficient service through the performance of the prescribed job duties;
• Applicants must be willing and able to exercise job-related travel, in and out of state.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Create and present professional development to groups of diverse educators with various backgrounds, expertise, and contexts to the fulfillment of the Art Tech grant;
• Liaison between school administration and staff, arts faculty, and teaching artists;
• Coordinate and collaborate with arts faculty, arts teachers, and teaching artists;
• Facilitate creation of exemplar arts lessons in hybrid modality (online and face-to-face);
• Coach teachers in the areas including artists talks/activities, research, authenticity, student-centered pedagogy, virtual learning, and instructional technology;
• Participate as part of an Art Tech team, coordinating and collaborating with project partners;
• Participate as an active team member in providing technical assistance and training to grantees on grant specific management issues;
• Perform related work as required and assigned.

TRAVEL
20% Travel required with occasional overnight stays.

TELEWORK-
This position is eligible to telework up to two (2) days a week. A Telework Agreement is required upon hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment consists of field work or telework at home with weekly visits to the Oklahoma State Department of Education and regular site visits to schools and partner organizations. Currently, under COVID precautions, the work environment has shifted to a daily telework model with weekly office environment access dependent upon further guidance.

Salary Range
$50,000 - $55,000
