Salary: 62,000 to $72,000 annually, based on education and experience.

The Oklahoma Water Resources Board is a state agency responsible for overseeing the complex mission of managing, monitoring, planning for and financing the state's water resources and infrastructure towards reliable future supplies that support strong communities, economy, and environment. The agency is seeking a full-time Assistant General Counsel to provide legal support to the water rights and engineering programs as will as litigation support for the agency.

Major Responsibilities. 
Primary duties will include review of sufficiency of water right applications and public notices for such applications; providing legal review, advice, and representation in administrative enforcement actions involving stream water right forfeitures, dam safety, construction of wells and installation of pumps, and other matters as assigned, including but not limited to reviewing or drafting notices of violations and/or hearings, and participating or assisting in facilitating resolution through negotiation, informal meetings and other processes; providing legal assistance and guidance as necessary for the drafting, adoption and promulgation of rules; providing legal review and assistance to Oklahoma commissioners and support staff on Oklahoma interstate stream compacts; and representing the OWRB in litigation as assigned by the OWRB General Counsel.

Competencies and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have minimum qualifications including a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school, active membership in the Oklahoma Bar Association and three to five years of legal experience. Preference may be given to applicants with litigation or water law experience. Must be a highly organized, self-directed individual with the ability to respond to changing priorities, meet deadlines, work collaboratively, and handle sensitive information with discretion, proficient in Microsoft Office.
