This position is located in the Land Protection Division - Hazardous Waste Permitting & Corrective Action Section.

Major Job Duties:
• Review, assess and evaluate the submissions and groundwater monitoring data from hazardous waste facilities to determine compliance with regulatory requirements and use judgement to evaluate proper construction and operation of facilities.
• Review and comment on assessments, geologic and hydrologic evaluations, and corrective action plans prepared by others.
• Assist in evaluating risks associated with soil and groundwater contamination, including potential risks associated with vapor intrusion into indoor air.
• Attend public meetings to answer questions and present information related to permit status and analytical data.

Education and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester hours in a physical, natural, or biological science, chemistry, geology, hydrology, physical geography, epidemiology, environmental science, environmental health or civil, agricultural, environmental, geological or chemical engineering.  Salary may be commensurate for those with a master’s degree or three years of experience. 
• Preference may be given to those applicants with a Bachelor of Science or higher in Geology or Hydrogeology, or significant work experience related to those fields.

Special Requirements:
This position will involve performing on-site field work.  Overnight travel will also be required. Must be able to walk long distances, walk in difficult terrain, climb ladders or stairs, wear personal protective equipment including a respirator, and be able to carry up to 25 lbs. of equipment.
