OSDH is seeking a full time Health Educator III providing support to the Creek, Kay, Lincoln, Noble, Osage, Pawnee and Payne County Health Departments. This is a classified position (PIN #34000814) located in Guthrie, OK. Duty station will be determined upon hire. Counties Covered: Creek, Kay, Lincoln, Noble, Osage, Pawnee and Payne.
This position will be responsible for establishing a positive working relationship within the community to conduct needs assessments within schools, businesses and the community. Facilitate the development of Community Health Improvement Plan with key stakeholders and partners that reflects the Oklahoma Health Improvement Plan resulting in improved health outcomes within District #3. Strategically plan, organize, implement and communicate health education interventions and services to address needs and modify health-related behaviors of individuals, families, organizations and communities identified within the Community Health Improvement Plan. Effectively monitor and evaluate health education services to determine outcomes and opportunities for quality improvement.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office setting with a climate controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise level. While performing the duties of the job, employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires long period of sitting and daily use of computer and phone. Work related travel required. Applicant must be willing to perform all job-related travel associated with this position.
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of health education/promotion programs.
The Health Educator job family consists of three levels, which are distinguished by the complexity of the duties performed, the depth and breadth of accountability, and the level of expertise required for completion of assigned tasks.
This is the leadership level where incumbents are assigned responsibilities for the supervision of others in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating health education/promotion programs. This will include assigning and reviewing work, providing educator skills training and technical assistance, insuring the completion of required tasks and related administrative duties.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Community Health, School Health Education, Health Studies, Nutrition, Health Behavior, or Nursing and three (3) years of experience in public health education or community development plus certification as a Certified Health Education (CHES) pursuant to the criteria established by the National Commission for the Health Education Credentialing or a master's degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Community Health, School Health Education, Health Studies, Nutrition, Health Behavior, or Nursing and certification as CHES.
