OMES is seeking a full time Accountant for Central Accounting & Reporting Agency Business Services. This is an unclassified position in state government, located in Oklahoma City.  OMES offers a comprehensive Benefits Package, including a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents.  For more information about the benefit allowance [click here]. The annual salary for this position is up to $43,000 based on experience.

The purpose of this position is to primarily perform duties involving intermediate technical accounting work. This may include independent responsibility for maintaining Accounts Receivable related functions and performing independent specialized accounting tasks which are large in scope with several phases of accounting activity. Other accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Reconciliations, and Budgeting may be assigned as needed.

Position Responsibilities (*indicates essential function)
• Preparing and recording deposits in PeopleSoft Accounts Receivable module*
• Remote Deposit Capture check scanning*
• Review and record clearing account transfers in PeopleSoft Accounts Receivable module*
• Prepare and issue monthly billing invoices (including interest calculations)*
• Research, identify and claim client agency grant revenue*
• Customer service inquiries, record maintenance and payment research
• Prepare and analyze reports concerning financial operations and data
• Daily deposit reconciliations and preparation of appropriate accounting entries
• Provide support for accounts payable, budget and reconcilement as needed

Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild. Occasional travel may be required.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or other related field OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of bookkeeping for each year of the required degree.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess
• Experience with PeopleSoft
